Yesterday afternoon Dr. Davies and I were contacted by Eastern States staff who informed us that anyone entering the grounds from states other than those considered low-risk by MA would be required to write their COVID-19 test number on their waiver or would be denied admission to the grounds. While MA has had a travel advisory in place for months, this policy came as a complete surprise to us and we expressed our concern about being able to communicate it to everyone that intended to attend the shows. We were asked to share this update on social media, which we did, knowing that would not reach everyone affected.
Over the last 24 hours, we have been made aware that not all test results come with any kind of number that could be used to satisfy that request. I have communicated with the EMT that is overseeing the waiver collection, asking her for an alternative. Her response was that anyone unable to provide a number should just provide the state in which the test was taken and the date of the test. That date must be within 72 hours prior to arrival in MA.
Please share this information so that exhibitors are made aware of the requirement and will prepare their waiver accordingly. If you have any questions, I can be reached at 860-490-7666 tomorrow. Done for tonight...
