For the second year in a row, the TarTan Gordon Setter Club participated in the Fidelco Walk in Manchester, CT. held on Saturday, May 20, 2006.

This was a full day event to benefit the local Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation based in Bloomfield, CT. The day started with a leisurely walk in the lovely Wykeham Park and then continued with events, demonstrations, and vendors galore.

This year, the TarTan Team consisted of Phyllis Lundy and "Link", Laura and Emma Bedford, Cindy Fitzgerald, and Cindy's grandaughter, Natalie, who brought Nancy and Earl Smith's "Tooter" and the Wannabee Gordon, "Trudy" the Frenchie. Cindy's sister, Janet Jones, also joined the team and it was a good thing because she shared carry duties with Natalie and Emma when Trudy decided that some of the hills were too steep for her short little legs.

One of the best moments came just before the Walk started...a big yellow school bus pulled up and the recent graduating class from Fidelco disembarked. What wonderful smiles on all the graduates faces as they, and their new best friends, joined all of us and helped us to see why this Walk, and other fundraising events, are so important. Even though we were missing our large corporate sponsor from last year, TarTan's team donated over $700 to this worthwhile cause, and, Phyllis and Link provided some entertainment as he proceeded to pull her down the hill to the aviary to point the ostrich and peacocks!

Next year we plan to attend again and hopefully will be joined by more members and their canine companions. Tooter and Link and Trudy loved it all, well...except for maybe those nasty snare drums.

Trudy: "Hmmmph, I don't see them carrying any Gordons, do you?"

Are we there yet?

C'mon mom, I know there's birds in there!

Special thanks to TarTan member Laura Bedford for providing these wonderful photos.
